Das doch mal gute Nachrichten!

„The Terror“ hat mir bereits sehr gut gefallen, allerdings war die Tonspur damals eine wirkliche Zumutung für mich und viel zu verstehen konnte ich dadurch auch nicht, was aber kein Problem war, da ich den Roman vorher gelesen hatte.

Ich freue mich schon auf die Sichtung der anderen Filme, ein Kauf lohnt sich bestimmt. Doch hoffentlich kommen die irgendwann einmal mit deutscher Synchronisation heraus. Bis dahin werde ich mich wohl hiermit begnügen müssen. Danke für den Tipp und hoffentlich folgen noch weitere Titel!

Ich freue mich aus dieser Dreierriege vor allem über "The Missing Million". Meine geheime Hoffnung besteht darin, dass, falls Network die Reihe "Edgar Wallace presents" noch weiter führen sollte, eventuell auch die britischen Versionen der Rialtos das Tageslicht erblicken könnten. Besonders "The Devil's Daffodil" wäre eine Sensation.

wollte mal fragen, ob jemand detailliertes zur aufmachung und qualität der network-dvds sagen kann. ich will mir nämlich unbedingt "circus of fear" noch in der uncut-fassung zulegen. bin jedoch nicht sicher, ob ich auf die network oder die blue-underground-fassung zurückgreifen sollte. was meint ihr dazu?

Ich habe aus der Reihe bisher nur "The Four Just Men". Network restauriert für "The British Film" die jeweiligen Filme, sodass alle DVDs in bester Qualität vorliegen. Verpackt sind sie in Slimcases. An Bonusmaterial sind lediglich bei einigen Titeln Bildergalerien aufgespielt (Four Just Men, Missing Million, Gaunt Stranger, Coast of Skeletons), bei "Coast of Skeletons" ist darüber hinaus PDF-Material angekündigt.

Die Blue-Underground bietet dagegen im Bonusbereich zu "Circus of Fear" mehr auf (Audiokommentar von John Moxey [habe ich nicht gerade enthusiastisch in Erinnerung], Kinotrailer, Bildergalerie, Biografien), ist aber eben NTSC (aber codefree). Den Laufzeitunterschied zwischen Network und Blue Underground vermute ich darin, dass bei Network vor dem Start des eigentlichen Films noch ein Studio-Canal-Intro abgespielt wird. Untertitel haben beide Auswertungen nicht, dafür sind beide auch günstig zu haben. Bei der Blue-Underground soll angeblich eine alte Fassung mit Pressfehler kursieren (dazu kann ich aber nichts konkretes sagen, meine DVD war nicht betroffen und die habe ich auch schon seit 2005 - ob also immer noch Gefahr besteht, ist mir unbekannt).

Es geht wie das Brezelbacken, anders kann man's gar nicht sagen. Die Wallace-Titel sprudeln dank Network auf den britischen Markt und decken sowohl die hierzulande veröffentlichten als auch anderweitige Titel ab.

Wie ich in der aktuellen Ausgabe des labeleigenen Magazins "Film on Air" lese, wird die kommende "Circus of Fear"-DVD auch das deutsche Ende als Extra beinhalten. Die DVD bringt außerdem "both the long and short versions" sowie mehrere Trailer, Bildergalerie und PDF-Materialien.

Die Reihe der Edgar-Wallace-Veröffentlichungen ist nicht am Ende angekommen. Munter geht es auch 2014 mit neuen DVDs weiter - dieses Mal stehen zwei Klassiker auf der Network-Liste, u.a. einer, der, wenn ich mich nicht täusche, gar nicht im Edgar-Wallace-Lexikon verzeichnet ist.

Die Kinowelt-Fassung ist ganz offensichtlich cut, wenn man sich die Laufzeiten ansieht. Von "Circus of Fear" gab es diverse geschnittene Fassungen, sodass es natürlich schwierig ist für ein Label, das sich nicht gut auskennt, ausgerechnet die vollständigste zu erwischen. Blue Underground wirbt damit, diese vollständige Fassung zu haben, die auch "a long-lost 8-minute sequence recently discovered in a storage vault" enthält. Grob gerechnet dürfte das den Unterschied zwischen Kinowelt und Blue Underground erklären, auch wenn die Kinowelt-DVD später erschien und das Fehlen folglich dem deutschen Label anzulasten ist.

Ich denke, dass die Network-Fassung (die noch nicht bei mir im Regal steht, nachdem ich bereits die deutsche und die amerikanische DVD habe) der Blue-Underground-Disc entsprechen wird. Allerdings wird der Network-Fassung das Studio-Canal-Intro und eventuell ein Filmprüf-Rating vorangestellt sein, weshalb die DVD noch etwas länger läuft. Die deutsche Schlussszene, die in der englischen Farbfassung nicht enthalten ist, findet sich, wie oben erwähnt, im Bonusbereich.
